World on a Wire: Looking Ahead to Today
Juliane Lorenz’s 50-minute documentary on the making of Rainer Werner Fassbinder’s World on a Wire is included in Criterion’s recently released DVD and BD of that film, but for anyone who needs some help remembering why this hugely influential sci-fi epic is a cornerstone of any self-respecting film fan’s library, Lorenz’s doc might be a mighty fine kick in the pants. the entire thing is streaming on YouTube and you can peep it just by flecking your eyes to the top of the page. if this doesn’t convince you that you need to own World on a Wire, to have and to hold whenever the time calls for it… then you might be down there just a bit too deep.
